2012 Buick Verano Total Car Score Analysis

The 2012 Buick Verano earned a mid-pack Total Car Score in the Compact Sedans and Wagons category. It is considered an entry-level premium offering by some publications. 
 
Reviewers lauded the Verano for its upscale interior, quiet ride and overall affordability for being a near-luxury car. Its electric power steering system was noted for fluid and precise feedback, thus enhancing the car's overall dynamics. The Verano also impressed with its standard 10 airbags and high safety ratings. 
 
On the negative side, the Verano was considered underpowered relative to its more upscale competitors. It was also criticized for having soft brake pedal feel as well as a shortage of rear seat legroom.

2012 Buick Verano Model Line-Up

The 2012 Buick Verano is available in three trim levels: base, Convenience Group 2 and Leather Group. 
 
The base Verano includes standard dual-zone climate, remote start, Bluetooth, 18-inch wheels, a six-speaker stereo with USB connectivity, a touchscreen control interface and Buick’s IntelliLink system.  
 
The mid-level Convenience Group 2 brings a power driver seat and rear parking sensors, while the uplevel Leather Group adds leather upholstery, seat heat, push-button start and a premium nine-speaker stereo system. 
 
On the safety front, the Verano comes equipped with Onstar, stability control and 10 standard airbags – front, side, curtain, rear seat side and front knee. The Verano earned the highest possible safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). 
 
Power for the front-wheel drive 2012 Buick Verano comes from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. This output is managed by a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. 
 
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2012 Buick Verano is 21 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
