Vehicle Review: 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Total Car Score Analysis
The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 doesn't have enough ratings to earn a Valid Total Car Score.
The highest performing Camaro off all time is praised both for its capability on the track and its manners while driving off the racing circuit — credit a quiet but very effective engine supercharger and its refined adaptive suspension. Consider the ZL1 nearly as capable as a Chevrolet
Corvette, but with a couple extra seats for your friends.
Like its standard Camaro siblings, the ZL1 is criticized for its claustrophobic cabin with a low driving position and challenging outward visibility. In addition, the switchgear and ergonomics seem to have taken a back seat to styling. Lastly, and it probably goes without saying, the ZL1 has an appetite for premium unleaded fuel.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was launched as a coupe last year, but the convertible is all new for 2013.
2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Model Line-Up
The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is a four-passenger two-door coupe that, for 2013, is also available as a convertible. The convertible is fitted with a power-operated folding cloth roof with a heated rear window.
The ZL1 trim level defines the Camaro's high-performance powertrain and equipment. Under the hood of the ZL1 is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 rated at 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a traditional six-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, full power accessories, power driver and front passenger seat, remote engine start (only with the automatic transmission), GM's Magnetic Ride Suspension (MRS), satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless technology and 20-inch 10-spoke wheels. OnStar, GM's telematics service, is also standard.
Major options include the automatic transmission, Interior Suede Microfiber package, audio subwoofer upgrade, carbon-fiber hood insert, racing stripes, sunroof and 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The EPA fuel economy ratings for the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 have not been released.
