2011 Jeep Compass Total Car Score Analysis

Despite a major freshening, the 2011 Jeep Compass can do no better than midpack in terms of its Total Car Score among Compact Crossovers.  
 
Changes for 2011 include new styling, a reworked interior with more soft touch points, revised suspension tuning and Trail Rated off-road capability thanks to the addition of the Freedom Drive II off-road package.  
 
Despite the changes, reviewers still complain that the Compass isn't a true Jeep because of its car-like structure. While they say the 2011 changes improve the Compass, they also criticize the still-too-plasticky interior and the Jeep's continued overall lack of refinement.

2011 Jeep Compass Model Line-Up

The 2011 Jeep Compass is offered in four models, Base, Latitude, Limited and a special 70th Anniversary edition.  
 
Front- or all-wheel drive is available on all models. The Base FWD model comes with a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can be paired to a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic. The other models get a 172-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder that is offered with the same transmissions.  
 
EPA fuel economy ratings range from 21 mpg city/26 highway for the 2.4-liter engine with AWD and the CVT to 23/29 for the 2.0 with FWD and the manual transmission.
