2011 Mercury Mariner Total Car Score Analysis

In its final model year, the 2011 Mercury Mariner sits in the bottom half of the Compact Crossover list with regard to its Total Car Score.  
 
Reviewers are turned off by the aging, upright, SUV-inspired design and an overall lack of refinement, but they like the interior utility and healthy power.  
 
As an outgoing model from a folding brand, the Mariner received no notable changes for 2011.

2011 Mercury Mariner Model Line-Up

Two trim levels are offered for the 2011 Mercury Mariner, Base and Premier, each with front- or all-wheel drive.  
 
Two engines are available as well, a 171-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 240-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 that is flex-fuel capable. Both engines send their power through a six-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid is available as well.  
 
EPA fuel economy ratings for the four-cylinder are 21 mpg city/28 highway with FWD and 20/26 with AWD. The V6 is rated at 19/25 with FWD and 18/23 with AWD.
