Chevy took the wraps off of their 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel today at the Chicago Auto Show. Being referred to as the '2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel' might be a little overboard, but given Americans' inherant distaste for that 'other' kind of fuel, GM wants everyone to know their latest fuel-sipping vehicle is also extremely clean and efficient.

When introducing the vehicle today, Cristi Landy, marketing director for Chevy's small cars division, touted a more-than respectable preliminary highway mileage figure of 42mpg. Clean diesels, she said, generate at least 90 percent less Nitrogen Oxide and particulate emissions when compared to previous-generation diesels. Turbocharging helps deliver a segment-leading 148 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque with an overboost feature that generates up to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds when maximum acceleration is desired.

To differentiate the Cruze Diesel from others in the lineup it will feature a lower body ground-effects kit, special 17-inch wheels and a full leather interior.

Pricing has been set at $25,695 with an additional $810 for destination. Included in the price is a complimentary two-year maintenance program in addition to a full 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Expect the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel to arrive at dealers in the coming months.
