With today's gas prices, having a car that can claim the highest MPG rating ever is a big deal. Honda has now staked that claim with its 2013 Honda Fit EV, which just received a 118 MPGe (mile per gallon equivalent) rating from the EPA. Based on the 2012 Honda Fit, the Honda Fit EV is a fully-electric model with a driving range of 82 miles, which gives it the highest MPGe rating, over competitors such as Ford Focus Electric, Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV. It can fully recharge in about three hours with a 240-volt circuit.
Currently available in California and Oregon, Honda will roll out the Fit EV to other select markets on the East Coast in 2013. The Fit EV is available only as a three-year lease at $389 a month, which includes maintenance, collision coverage and roadside assistance.
