Imagine that there's a blackout in your city. Is the food in your fridge is going to spoil? Not if you own an electric vehicle. A joint display with Nissan and GE at the recent SAE 2012 World Congress showcased how a fully-charged Nissan Leaf could power a home that was equipped with GE appliances for more than a day. GE now offers a full-line of home appliances that connect to an energy management system that can pull power from other sources, such as an electric vehicle, as well as turn them on and off at specific times to maximize energy use.
